[net.audio] digital vs. analog debate

I'm Very Bored. Why is all the intense flaming and making of unsupported
claims and counter-claims necessary except to prop up insecure egos? If
you think digital audio is terrific and some other bozo on the net thinks
it's awful, why does it matter who's really "right"? Listening to music
should be something that's done for fun. If you (or your "fellow netters")
can't tell the good from the bad at your local audio store, what's the big
deal anyway. Get whatever pleases your ears and stop the bickering.

		BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!!

I listen to new albums on my 11 year old receiver (JVC), my 5 year old
speakers (Kenwoods), my 4 year old 10" r-r (Teac) and turntable (Technics)
and my 3 month old cassette (Sharp). I think the music sounds just fine.
I draw upon YEARS of having worked in radio stations (from NJ to CA and ME)
while traveling 'round the world with the Navy.

How 'bout this one: wow and flutter is usually measured in percentage, with
most systems coming in at between .08 and .2 percent. If a normal test tone
is 1000hz, then .08 percent of that is .8 hz. I DEFY ANY LISTENER to be able
to tell me a change in .8 hz at a 1000hz test tone!!!

And there are also several EXCELLENT noise/tick reduction systems on the
market which, when used CORRECTLY, remove a lot of the surface noice present
on records which are NOT made with virgin vinyl. I have a Heathkit (believe
it or not) noise reduction system which I bought about 3 years ago. It works
just fine for removing hiss. And, the SAE pop-click filter works NEAT!!!
