[net.audio] Bose slur

unc!rentcsh asks:

"What's the point of doing the test if
it's going to be done on, e.g., Bose speakers?"

I did a lot of comparisons (as a random consumer) on speakers recently;
I found Bose speakers to be far and away the most acceptable to me. As
a matter of fact, the only speakers that I found which I liked better than
the Bose 601 model II set were the 901s.

Now I DO know that, some years ago, when the Bose line was first introduced
it was poo-pooed for its lack of crisp response. but this was long ago-
I'd like to know, is the above comment a result of that old stigma ?
Comments welcome.

I listened to some Bose (I don't know the number, but several different
models) speakers recently. They all sounded terrible. (NOTE THAT THIS
IS ONLY A SUBJECTIVE OPINION AND I DO NOT INVITE DISCUSSION OF MY OPINION.
I provide this for the benefit of the asker. I welcome other comments on
the line of speakers which Bose pushes off on consumers.)

[I can't resist -- I saw a sign recently that said 'The worlds greatest
loudspeakers' advertising -- you guessed it -- Bose speakers. Certainly
the worlds greatest speakers, if marketing hype is any measure.]

inflammably yours,

Tim
