Clearly this ridiculous argument between the digital fanatics and the analogue fanatics will never 'solve' anything. However, to say that is to concede that something needs to be solved. My suggestion is that the CD fanatics continue to attend their church and the analogue fanatics continue to attend thiers. And neither should throw bricks at the other. Clearly my opinion shifts somewhat in the case where someone puts a gun to my head and forces me to buy a turntable/cartridge or CD player. That has not happened yet. I do receive a couple of hi-fi mags each month and I do read this verbose notes file and so I am aware of the raging battles around me and of the extreme efforts of the equipment makers to get me to shell out for this year's model (CD or analogue). However I don't find myself wandering aimlessly around the supermarket buying tons of Charmin, and I certainly do not feel compelled by the media to run out and buy a $1500 cartridge for my turntable or a $1500 player for CDs. Those who do should carefully inspect their motivations for doing this and try to understand why they feel that they can only justify what they are doing by convincing the rest of us that they are 'right'.
