[net.audio] another speaker in room- Golden Ears/flakes

Can we ever obtain any sanity in this net? Let's ask for
new group (net.golden ears) where the wackos can throw around words
like presence, ambience, muddy, sparkling, wandering etc.. So the
serious audiophiles can get on with some meaningfull discussions
and comparisons (WITH ACTUAL DATA OR NUMBERS ATTACHED TO THE STATEMENTS)

There are some people who check into this net for some simple
advice and are not even "audiophiles". To those people I have some advice.
concerning speakers. Buy the lowest priced speakers you can find that sound
good to you. Speaker sound is very subjective and depends greatly on the
room in which they are in (shape and acoustical absorption). If you get to the
stage of "audiophile"- then you're on your own. At this stage theory goes
out the window (as observed on this net!) and conclusions become qualitative
rather than quantitative. As far as other equipment- get the units that look
good and have the bells and whistles you want. This will please you more
in the long run than subtle sonic deficiencies which you can't hear!
