[net.audio] Subjective Arguments and Experience

I agree with Craig on his thoughts as to why digital discs require
different recording techniques and approaches. Present day recording
engineers are VERY good at making vinyl discs sound like the
master tapes. If this requires a boost at 5KHz of 3 1/2dB to do so,
then it seem logical that they'll probably carry this knowledge into
the digital format for no other reason than habit. (I'm not sure about
this so don't quote me.)

The resolution seems to be to obtain the original pre-mixed multi-track
master tape and compare what this measures to what Bob Carver's
experiments measured. (Bob tried to get some of these tapes but
couldn't. Test discs exist for both analog and CDs to measure
frequency response. Since both CDs and cartridges draw good plots, it
seems to be the only way to statistically settle which system is more
accurate.) Any other arguments would be purely subjective.
