Why, Why, Why, and Why !!! Turntables in automobiles were tried in the 1960's but failed miserably. Besides, although you can't get the information off of tape that can be retrieved off record, in an automobile tape is the prefered mode of storage/retrieval. If you just want to do it for the novelity of it, I believe Fosgate Inc. has a preamp - amplifier combination with sufficient gain to amplify a MM phono cartridge (the power amplifier, by the way, is 100 watts/channel into 4 ohms). If you don't mind waiting a few months and can tolerate digititis, I understand that there will be several offerings of Compact Disc units for the automobile. But still a good tape unit and accompanying hardware is probably as good for the automobile enviroment and one H--- of a lot cheaper. -Chuck- (decvax, akgua)!mcnc!ecsvax!uchuck
