I want to buy some good metal cassette tapes for as little money as possible. I have always been happy with Fuji tapes, so I thought I would pick up 2 or 3 dozen of them. - does anyone have any reasons why some other brand of tape would be better? I still have some Fuji tapes that I recorded over 10 years ago, and play regularly, that are still going strong. None of the Maxell tapes (from the people who advertise an old tape being discovered in space) I recorded then ever lasted that long, nor any other brand. People still seem to recommend the Maxell. I've been buying every brand of metal tape I can get my hands on (my deck can set up the bias, eq, and record levels for different tapes automagically. Wonderful deck.) and they all sound uniformly wonderful to me (unless my radar detector is nearby :-) so it would seem that the only basis for comparison is longevity, and maybe how kind they are to the deck's heads, but I don't know how to measure that. - Where is the cheapest place to get metal tapes? I got a catalog from "The Source" but they didn't list very many tapes, and their prices didn't seem that good. They were featuring Sony tapes, but I have had nothing but bad luck with Sony tapes (no flames, I love their TV's and video equipment). Where do you buy boxes of tape? I'll summarize to the net.
