[net.audio] Wanted -- subwoofer info

If one is considering the addition of a subwoofer to any of the
Magnepan MG series speakers, or any other planer or electrostatic
speakers, one must consider how well the subwoofer will "blend" in.
Since these types of speakers are known for crystalline clarity and "fast"
transient response, it would be detremental to add a subwoofer
designed to interface with "slower" conventional cone speakers. Some
of the lower priced subwoofers may not be able to "keep up" with the
Magnepans and thus the bass will seem muddy--it would not be coherent
thus you would not have that rock solid bass that you are trying to attain.

Now for the good news. Audio Pro makes very "fast" subwoofers
that sound excellent with the Magnepans. It's easy to understand why
a previous respondent fell in love with the AP B-250. I have not
heard the B-250 but I have heard the smaller B-50 (I think thats the
model) with the MG I's and the new MG III's. I have never heard a more
seemless or coherent sound from the ultra low earth-shakeing bass
to crystalline highs than the MG III B-50 combination except for the
$5000 Infinity RS 1 speakers.

The B-50 sells for about $700 while the B-250 sells for $1000.
They both are self amplified and contain a fully adjustable crossover.
This may seem expensive but if you buy a subwoofer, a "good" bass
amplifier, and a "good" fully adjustable crossover, you will probably
pay more than $700.

p.s.	I also think my MG I's are the best in that price range
but hope to upgrade to the MG III's soon and then add
	the B-250.
