The design of the disc package and player (horizontal type anyway) is such that the playing surface never touches anything but air. Of the approx. two dozen discs I have acquired so far, none have had anything on them worse than dust - easily blown off. I have as yet had not one episode of audible mistracking. Must just be lucky, I guess. Dick Grantges hound!rfg

The suggestion that people switch to CD instead of learning how to take care of vinyl records is irrelevant and arrogant. Regardless of what one's opinions are on the merits of the CD, there is an immense wealth of material on vinyl disc, both in print and out of print, which is unavailable and unlikely to become available on CD. The idea that people should deprive themselves of any performances but those which are available on CD is ridiculous, and those who have large libraries of vinyls discs need to know how to take care of them rather than be told to dispose of them. - Greg Paley
