In a recent article comparing CD's with vinyl someone mentioned Monster reference cables. The said that these cables made the CD sound less harsh. What are Monster reference cables? What other kinds of cable are there? How important are the cables? Or is the question, How important are the reference cables? Another ripoff perpetrated upon us by the high-end weirdos.
For ~$50 to ~$100 PER CABLE, you get a very high quality
RCA cable with:
Gold-plated high quality plugs
Usually more than one shield
External ground leads (sometimes TWO (two???) )
Bah, humbug etc. Don't buy el-cheapo cables, but the
regular ones from people like Audio-Technica, Sony and
even Discwasher (pricey, but I'd buy them for the plugs)
are just as good as the "Rolls-Royce" cables being manufactured
by Monster Cable et al.
