[net.audio] Supreme Pundit of net.audio Results

(oo)
Well, it's been a couple of months since I posted the "Supreme
Pundit of net.audio test," and I think it's time to announce the
final selection of candidates. They are:

>>>>>>>> drum roll (preferably 2-miked and uncompressed) <<<<<<<<

			nobody.

>>>>>>>> cymbal crash (same recording techniques used) <<<<<<<<

That's right, NOBODY! The only response I got was from a fellow who
proclaimed himself to be a "leaden ears," and actually managed to
score 0 out of 30 possible points. Tsk, tsk. And I had such high
expectations. Given the amount of incisive rhetoric that passes through
this newsgroup, I thought that surely I would get an overwhelming number
of qualifying scores.

I thought at first that this meant no one was actually qualified for
the position. However, this just could not be! Then I realized what
the problem was: The only people who could have scored high enough
just didn't bother taking the test. They were too busy poring over
the latest issue of "Absolute Sound," or making the umpteenth modification
to their Dyna vacuum tube preamps to be pestered with a questionnaire.
I should have known.

I guess we'll just have to give up the quest for a true expert and trust
our own faulty judgement and those terribly misleading technical
reports. Oh well......
