[net.audio] Wiring house for stereo

cfk@houxf.UUCP (KLEIN) (07/25/84)

To prewire your house for stereo, use good stereo wire,
and try to keep your stereo wire away from the electrical
wiring. To do this, drill separate holes for the stereo wire
and tack down the wire away from electrical cables.
Don`t cross power cables.
If you`re really concerned about stray signal interference,
try finding some shielded cable similar to TV coax or
shielded 300 ohm TV cable. Your electrician or electronic
supply store should be able to help.

I don't think you want to try running armored electrical
cables for stereo, as was suggested elsewhere. That cable
is difficult to work with, expensive, and seems like overkill.
Power your refrigerator with it but use audio cable for stereo.
