I own a Marantz stero receiver and a Marantz turntable. On the back of the receiver is a dual-opening connection for two turntable cables to plug into. +-----+ The problem is a LOUD rumbling noise | O | when both the turntable cables are | | firmly plugged into the receiver like | O | one would think they ought to be. +-----+ My half-hearted attempt to alleviate the rumbling is to sort of push one of the turntable cables all the way into one receiver jack (as it should be) and to lightly rest the second cable into the other receiver jack. This vaguely works (some of the time). Sometimes I don't get any rumbling, but then one of the speakers doesn't work. This has been going on for some time, and I haven't bought a new album for a while because it has just been no joy to play them. I have resisted bringing the system in anywhere because I don't even know whether I would have to cart in the receiver alone (the culprit of the rumbling?) or the receiver/turntable combination, or maybe the speakers are whacko too. Sheeesh. Anybody heard of anything like this? I'd appreciate direct mail (probably not of too much interest to anyone else). Thanks a lot. My old albums look forward to having some new friends.
