They had a projection TV in the back with about 8 nice chairs and about 10 sets of their car speakers with who knows how much in amps that could blow you away with a beta-HiFi tape playing. They also had all the car stereos connected. I watched a promotional tape about the company and talked to a guy who had a managment position in the west coast sales department. I naturally asked about future products such as a portable high quality cassette deck and why Nak dropped their stereo components. He said that they had gotten a lot of requests for a portable and were going to introduce one and that they probably would get back into amps, preamps, and tuners. We talked about the design of the car decks and why some of them slide out so that the tape can be inserted on top of the unit. It is because this design gives them more room for fly wheels and electronics. I'm very impressed with the engineering smarts that go into Nak equipment. On another topic... I've always liked Revox equipment but the price has kept me from buying any. I saw that they introduced a CD player and assumed that it would cost around $2k but surprise surprise it comes in at about $1100. That's the same level as all the other manufacturers first units. Seems like Revox finally found a technology that they couldn't engineer to death. Still, is the unit better sounding than the 2nd or 3rd generation Japanese units? -Shaun
