[net.audio] Russian Radio Station Interference

Recently I posted a note in response to someone who was experiencing
interference that sounded like Russian language. I suggested it was a radio
station in N. Calif that I had heard a few times. I jokingly assured people
that I didn't THINK it was a communist plot.

The next day I received the following mail, which I pass on without
further comment, except to note that I question the "signature":
_______________________________________________________________________________

It is too a communist plot! It is just one more little thing
like flouridation of our water and Earl Warren that we are
supposed to be duped into not really noticing and which move us
just a little closer to becoming just one more vassel state
of those godless commie bastards. Sure, what's wrong with
a little russian talk on a radio station?, you ask. Well, what
about the kids, the ones whose parents use UNECEF Christmas
cards and think one-world government is ok. These kids
are drowning in a sea of liberal doublethink and can be brought
over to think communism is ok just by hearing russian being spoken!
And don't think it stops there. Pretty soon other radio stations
are talking about myths like russian "culture" and making them out
to be not so bad and maybe even a little like us and then everyone
will start thinking that maybe our goal shouldn't be to nuke them
into the stone age. Well, we know what candy-ass thinking like
this will do. MIght as well start turning in our guns and
practice making borscht because the tanks and barbed wire will
show up any minute. I bet that if you checked just a little,
you would find that this "ethnic" (translate into commie-fascist
propaganda) radio station is financed by the international banking
conspiracy. Good dollars earned by honest Americans, working to
keep their god-given right of a better standard of living than
the rest of the world, are being funneled through these pinko
loving banks to fund foreign language radio broadcasts, discussions
of sex education, and interviews with Gore Vidal. Makes you
shudder, doesn't it. Listen, Brian, I know you meant well and I
don't think that you are a hard-core commie, just a little lax
in understanding how tough it is to defend our precious freedoms
to stamp out this foreign crap from our fine country. Now that
I have shown you how wrong you were, you should do the American
thing and post a retraction to the people on the net. You just
might save some poor deluded liberal nerd from taking up with
the enemy.

Well, if you want, in the southeast you can pick up Radio Moscow (relayed
from Cuba, of course), around 600 Khz on any decent AM radio. I used to
listen to it in my car when driving from D.C. to Chapel Hill. *Very*
funny.... (Those of you not in the southeast shouldn't despair; if the
Administration goes ahead with Radio Marti, Cuba's got this *big* trans-
mitter set up to broadcast on 1040 Khz AM.)

Dan Smoot? Sounds more like Floyd R. Turbo.
