A recent posting ventured the wish that magazines would tell us more about their record reviewers (tastes, background, equipment). As I recall, STEREO REVIEW, a few years back, presented one page profiles of their reviewers, one a month, until they had covered them all. HI FI NEWS AND RECORD REVIEWS (British), early this year, profiled all their reviewers, presenting lists of equipment used and even floorplans of listening rooms. PS: I too am unhappy with the format changes and decreasing record reviews in STEREO REVIEW and HIGH FIDELITY. AUDIO has a different problem: at least with their CD reviews they seem to spend too much time analyzing the sound and too little analyzing the performance (i.e., they've raved about all the Telarcs, even many of those are pretty pedestrian as performances).
