<gulp> I thoroughly agree with Dick Dunn and Dick Grantges. Linn's ads have gone a bit too far - their anti-digital stuff was amusing and everyone has a right to their opinions (even though the opinions may be off the wall) but their new ads are downright misleading. As Dick D. said, the general advice is to spend 1/3 of your budget on speakers (probably closer to 1/2 in budget ($500 and under) systems), which makes sense given the difficult task the speaker has in translating electrical signals into acoustic pressure waves (and doing it well). I have and continue to support this rule of thumb. I also agree with Dick D.'s opinion of Linn & Naim KAN speakers ("they KAN'T - D.D.") and I haven't been too impressed with any Linn product other than their turntable and arm (no, I don't think too highly of their cartridges, either). Regards, Bill Mitchell (whuxl!wjm) Disclaimer - these are only my personal opinions, although there are many people around the net who agree with them.
