Umm....
just 2 quick items here.

1) About those speakers with the 100+dB/octave crossovers, how do they avoid
hellacious phase shifts, or has everyone decided that phase shifts are only
evil when produced by those bad old CD's???  [I think I need a :-) here...]

2) Speaking of CD's, it's really kind of obvious, but there has to be in each
some kind of d to a conversion, and some analogelectronics to produce
the line level feed to the amp (so what else is new?).  Just maybe some of
the sins are due to this stuff, and not necessarily the sins of the Digital
Part.  It is better therefore to continue the welcome trend here of discussing
overall performance of CD players than to wage war over the theory of digital
signal processing.  Let us not revive the conflict, since it may well be 
(hell, it IS) missing the crucial items while flailing away at steel pillars.
