[net.audio] Speaker-Amplifier Interfacing and the Ultimate Audio Magazine

jm@tekadg.UUCP (Jeff Mizener) (09/01/84)

[:-)]

With all this discussion about speaker wires and connecting cables,
I thought that those of you with access to a good corporate or
university library might be interested in the following:

	Amplifier-Loudspeaker Interfacing
By RA Greiner, U of Wisconsin, Madison
Journal of the Audio Engineering Society
	Vol 28 #5, May 1980

It isn't the last article that will be written on the subject, but it
worth reading (if only to add fuel to the fires of discussion).

On the subject of magazines, let me put my vote for the JAES. No
equipment reviews, just good hard facts and equations. Lest those
who've never seen the Journal think it's just a glorified "Audio",
consider some of the recent articles:

A Topology to Linearize Miller-Effect Compensated Amplifiers
	Computer Simulation of Loudspeaker Directivity
Dynamic Range Control of Digital Audio Signals
Fuzzy Distortion in Analog Amplifiers: A Limit
	   to Information Transmission?
Distortion in Positive- and Negative-Feedback Amplifiers

	And So On...

Paul Klipsch, Tomlinson Holman, Richard Heyser, Marshall Leach and
Mr. Moog are all on the Review Board. A membership costs working
people $40/yr and students $20/yr. End of advert. If you want their
address, mail to me.

Yours for Cost Effective Audio Enjoyment,

Jeff Mizener / Tektronix Inc / Portables ADG
