Quoting [with annotations]:
Pioneer Electronics has announced the company's first CD player
for use in cars. The CDX-1 is slated for release in January 85,
making it one of the first autosound CD players manufactured in
this country [you read that right -jm]. Despite the sophistication
of the CD and laser technology, the CDX-1 is compatable with
virtually any existing car stereo that used a standard built-in
amplifier or RCA-type pre-outs if a separate adapter is used.
The biggest hurdles facing manufacturers of car CD players
are size, vibration and heat. ... separating the CDX-1 system
into 2 distinct [as opposed to indistinct? -jm] modules -
an operating module, and a hideaway processing module. The
operating module ... fist into most standard-sized car-stereo
dashboard cavaties. The processing module ... fits in a remote
location, such as under a seat. An anti-vibration eliminates
[read "minimizes" -jm] tracking error, and a doorless, dustproof
[nothing is dustproof -jm] disk insertion slot protects the
disk from scratches, stains and cigarette smoke. The unit also
includes a temperature-controlled automatic shutoff [as opposed to
a temperature-controlled manual shutoff -jm].

No Endorsement is Intended. I don't even own a car expensive enough for
one of these babies. I don't even own one for my house.
