[net.audio] Cassette deck decision?

stottlem@ittral.UUCP (Bill Stottlemyer) (11/05/84)

I'm looking for a low cost cassette deck to be used for recording
demo tapes (I'm a hack songwriter). So far, I've narrowed the field
down to the Tascam 225 Syncassette and the Fostex X-15. The X-15
has some serious limitations (such as non-switchable Dolby, battery
powering, and limited frequency response). The Tascam 225 is only a
two channel deck but sports such features as sel-sync and sound-on-
sound. Does anyone have any hands-on experience they would like to
share? A local (Raleigh, NC) store offers the 225 for $325. I'm
getting ready to jump but need a little encouragement (or discourage-
 ment). Thanx.

At first I was concerned this person was serious. Then I saw that
this person was from the Dept. of Mental Instability,
Purdue University and said, "That explains it!" 8-)
