The December 84 Stereo Review also had an article about the CDP system which does some voodoo signal processing to comprss audio signals ontop a standard floppy disk. Frankly, I don't like the idea of the signal processing to reduce the bit rate. As most readers of net.audio know, I'm generally pro-digital (and on the verge of finally breaking down and getting a CD player - probably the Revox) but I don't like this kind of signal processing - it reminds me of the allegedly compatable CX enccoding (which received a well-deserved demise) Don't get me wrong - some signal processing like Dolby and dbx nnoise reduction is OK , but one of the main benefits of digital is its wide dynamic range - and thats what these guys will throw out as as redundant.
