Given the realities of the marketplace, you can probably get a better deal on a complete receiver than on an integrated amp if you want 100w rms or less per channel. For more power than that a separate amp is a better deal. I'd stay away from the Carver receiver - its strong point is the tuner section As I've said many times, I don't like the Carver Magnetic Field amp for several reasons, one being its low power factor (the guzzling of large amounts of current that are out of phase with the line voltage so it doesn't run up your electric bill but does trip circuit breakers, blow fuses, etc) at light loads and another being its higher distortion than conventional amp designs. Personally, of the brands mentioned, I'd recommend the Tandberg first, or the Yamaha models if the Tanberg is out of your budget. Regards, Bill Mitchell ({ihnp4!}lcuxc!wjm)
