[net.audio] CD player, turntable, etc. reviews from German "Audio"

greg@olivej.UUCP (Greg Paley) (12/11/84)

A friend sent me the November issue of the German "Audio"
magazine. Although displaying a banner similar to the
American, the full editorial staff and format are German,
and very different from the American counterpart. For
one thing, the reviews are far more unabashedly critical
than any I've seen in the domestic publication.

Of interest to some will be a review which compared the
Meridian CD player with the Philips model it used as a
base. They preferred the (unmodified) Philips.

Also reviewed were a number of speakers, many of which
will be of little interest as they are not marketed in
this country, as well as the new Yamaha belt-drive turntable
with the double-pipe tonearm (sold here for $450), which
may be of interest to those looking for a turntable in the
price category.

I'll be happy to mail a brief synopsis in English of the
reviews. If enough requests come in, I'll post it.
