While searching for speakers I have come across several that have excellant (at least to my tin ears) imaging and higher frequency sound. The problem is with the bass. As a specific, the Spica TC-50 sounds very good to me (and the price is good!), but it seems a bit bass shy. Reviews of the speakers have all mentioned that having a sub-woofer would fill in the bass. What is involved with a sub-woofer? Do I need another amp? How do you separate the signal that goes to the sub-woofer from the rest of the signal? Can I really get by with one sub-woofer or do I need two? If I need another amp, does it need to be of high quality and output? There are several sub-woofer kits, are they any good? The dealer wanted very badly to sell me a sub-woofer that costed an arm and a leg. -- Marty Sasaki Havard University Science Center sasaki@harvard.{arpa,uucp} 617-495-1270
