Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I would also have to ask
Ron WHAT IS wrong with Shure cartridges. I own a Shure and have for a
long time. I have listened to others with different cartridges, some are
good and some are not so good. But Shure (especially the top of the
line) seem to reproduce music quite well. They have not destroyed my
record collection (I have lots of albums) and I have always been
happy with my Type V.

It's a joke son. I didn't imply that it damaged records. I was commenting
that even the top of the line Shure is noticiably different than some of
it's competitors even where the price is not that much different. I used
to think that Stanton made the greatest cartridges in the world. I had
theirs and I two Audio Technicas at varioius points in time (in case your
wondering, I sold the Stanton with the turntable it was mounted in). I
found a noticeable improvent over these and the Shure V15s that we used
at work when I switched to Microacoustics. On my recommendation several
friends bought even cheaper versions of the same cartridge I have. It
still sounds better. The versions were priced competitively with almost
every other on the market ($80 range). There is a drawback. My replacement
stylus cost me $50. I don't know if that is common since I don't often
go out pricing styluses by themselves.
