[net.audio] dbx in car stereo

eu.ear@dukee.UUCP (02/14/85)

For the past year I have been trying to add a dbx decoder to my car's
stereo. I know that dbx as well as a couple others manufacture dbx decoders
and eq's with decoders, but the problem is that they expect a line level signal.
The stereo that came with my car (1983 Toyota Celica) is one of those types that
uses a modular bus instead of RCA plugs. I think its made by Fujitsu. The
reciever and cassette deck are two seperate units.

I am interested in any info regarding either the dbx decoders or the Fujistu
stereo, especially info regarding the signals levels generated/expected, the
input/output impedances, the physical location of these signal w/respect to the
plugs/jacks/busses etc. Also, any other solutions to the problem would
be greatly appreciated.

/* I realize that the dbx unit itself won't do too much for my car stereo, but
at least I'll be able to do all of my recordings in one format.	*/

Thanks in advance ...
