A parametric equalizer has a number of filters, each of which has a variable center point, band width, and (of course) degree of boost or cut. In contrast, a graphic equalizer usually has more filters, but their center frequencies and band widths are fixed. Either type of EQ can be used to adjust recordings to your tastes, as long as they have enough bands to accomplish what you want. A graphic EQ is easier for a non-expert (who isn't using a spectrum analyzer) to use, although a parametric can be targeted to one particular response problem. Regards, Bill Mitchell (ihnp4!lcuxc!wjm)
