[net.audio] Nak tape decks

Yes, Nakamichi uses a slightly different head alignment procedure that do most
other manufacturers, but it should not result in a significant difference in
most cases - it certainly should not deter you from getting a Nak deck - the
Nak decks tend to be so much better than the competition that tapes will still
sound better with them. I have not noticed any significant problems playing
pre-recorded tapes or importing/exporting tapes from my Nak 680ZX to other
cassette decks.
BTW, I believe Nak uses the CORRECT procedure and the other guys are wrong
(correct me if I'm wrong on this) for head alignment.

I also own a 680ZX and a 4 channel dbx 124. The method of head
alignment is indeed unique (and better), but I beleive that all
Nakamichis have a slightly non-standard playback equalization
with a kick-up in the high end. Tapes made on other machines
sound slightly bright.
