[net.audio] Mail Order Audio -- the saga continues. Part III

rjd@linus.UUCP (Robert DeBenedictis) (02/27/85)

When I last called Stereo Corporation of America (SCA), they said that
they should have their shipment of JVC RX500B receivers in by the end
of February. Today was the 27th, so I figured I'd give them a call.

They told me that they now expect their next shipment to arrive in early
March. The lady on the other end of the phone said I should call back
in two weeks to see if they have shipped it (THAT sounded familiar).

Normally, I wouldn't have this much patience. But, I don't yet own a
pair of speakers. (By the way, thanks to all you netters out there
posting speaker reviews, and to marty, govind, and saburo for their
mail. Anybody know of speakers which are noted for being able to get
LOUD without sacrificing a lot in other areas? I'll be using a 100W
receiver with very little headroom.) Also, contributing to my patience
is the fact that SCA is only charging me $402 (delivered) for a receiver
that lists for $650. The going rate at another mail order outlet was $450.

Oh, well. I'll call back SCA on March 13th and let you know what happens.
