[net.audio] high end ramblings

How about British High-end loudspeakers? Consider the new B&W 808's 6db
more headroom than the 801. This must be the perfect studio speaker. Or
take a look at the Tannoy Westminsters, this is a serious speaker, weighing
in at 180lb's each, the kind of speakers that send the japs running for
thier checkbooks (anyone know where they are demoed in the NYC area?).
Or the KEF 105.2 , I have 104Ab's so I am really KEF biased. How many of
you guys out their are high-end audiophiles i.e. systems costing >$4000
Anyone own a set of Whams? How about a nakamichi cd cutter $80000!
someones buying this stuff, lets hear about esoterica like goldman tables,
koutsu cartriges etc...

/* :-) WARNING */

Finally!  "High-End" defined!  And such a nice  s i m p l e  definition that
anyone can immediately relate to.

And here was I, always thinking that it had something to do with "equipment
that reproduced music as well as the engineering state-of-the-art allowed".

good engineering costs money. I dont feel like arguing as has been done for
eons about musicality etc. but I will say that if you deviate from bringing
$'s into the discussion, then you're in a fantasy land where equipment grows
on trees.
