I've three questions I'd like to put forth to the collective subconscious of the net. 1) Does anyone out there have the addresses and subscription information for "The Audio Amateur," and "Speaker Builder"? 2) Has anybody compared the old Nakamichi LX-5 to the new BX-300? Or the LX-3 to the BX-150? I mean listening to them, not specs. The LX-3 has a better drive system than the BX-150, but the BX-150 is a later model, so you might expect better implementation, better circuits, ... 3) When I was looking around for tapedecks a few months ago, some salesman in a very fancy Manhattan store that pushes just Kyocera told me Kyocera tapedecks were much better than Nakamichis. Now I always assume that stereo salesmen are lying to me, but the specs in the brochure were roughly comparable to the Nak LX-3. So was the price, $450. I never got to listen to the thing (he claimed he'd sold out that week) but I was kind of curious about Kyocera. This "microphonic resonance" stuff they flame about makes me smile, but nevertheless their stuff looked pretty serious. Does anyone out there have any opinions about their tapedecks, amps, or pre-amps? Performance and price relative to stuff like Nakamichi, Hafler, Carver, NAD? -Olin Shivers
