A few weeks ago I posted an inquiry asking about whether I could expect an FM tuner to help me get around the problems of trying to receive decent FM, even though I live next to the Colorado front range, and reception is horrible. I wish to thank the 10-15 people who responded. Basically, I got two useful pieces of info: - A number of people told me to make sure that I was getting the best signal into my present tuner before spending lots of money on a new tuner. TV antennas and signal boosters came up often. I will certainly try this first. - Many people recommended the Carver TX-11 tuner, making such strong claims that I began to wonder if they were going to try to sell me one... :-) But seriously, that is the only name that came up, and I got at least 5 recommendations. It seems pretty clear that if one does decide to buy a tuner, the Carver is the way to go. Again, thanks for your replies. -- Jonathan Corbet National Center for Atmospheric Research, Field Observing Facility {seismo|hplabs}!hao!boulder!jon (Thanks to CU CS department)
