A. Nowatzyk asked if someone is thinking of building an D/A-filter-etc. the right way. I have been mulling the idea over and will be building a system based on the following; INTERFACE - a separate interface/translator to various players. LOGIC - Either the Yamaha YM-3511/2201 chip set or the new SONY chip set (have not seen yet). D/A - Two (2) each Burr-Brown PCM53KP 16bit converters. The 53K is the selected version of the PCM53. FILTERS - Don't know yet, I'm a digital type, I will leave this up to a linear type (I think I can find someone at Tektronix that qualifies) BUFFERS/AMPS - see filters Doing this thing will totally depend on getting either the Yamaha or Sony chips at better then replacement parts prices, and getting them in quantity. The two board design, digital on one and D/A-filter-buffer on the other, will run at 4x oversampling rate. The digital board will either have a 'universal' interface or will have a daughter board that has the interface to the player. I am now just starting to collect the service manuals for various players. Having a CDP-101 with unused pins on the ACC/AUX connector helps. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated; Pete Lancashire ...!tektronix!tekig!petel
