[net.audio] HI-FI VCR'S -- OPINIONS WANTED

man@bocar.UUCP (M Nevar) (04/05/85)

I am interested in purchasing a HI-FI VCR, and would like owner's opinions.
First of all, I am mainly interested in VHS. I do not own any type of VCR
presently, so this unit will be used both for recording music and video.
I would appreciate opinions on the following:

1. Who are the four (or so) main manufacturers of VHS VCR'S and who do they
produce for ? Who are considered the most reliable ?
I know Mashusita and Hitachi are two of them (or at least I think).

2. I also want to get a camera in the future. Are the VHS camcorders any
good, or should I get a portable deck ? I would much rather get a
tabletop model and if the camcorders picture quality is ok, I'll go that
    route.

3. I realize that stereo broadcasting is on the way, so some of the
VCR'S now have these types of tuners or have adapter plugs for future
adapters. But what about cable. I'm sure cable will go that route
(stereo broadcasting) when available, so will the VCR need to decode
the stereo signal too ?? I ask this because I if I have to, I'll
wait awhile for a better number of VCR'S have this capability.

Please send mail to me and I will summarize to the net.

						Thanks,
