[net.audio] speakers,types of music, have I got a deal

When discussing speakers, let's not lose sight of one thing, there is no
such thing as a good speaker for a particular type of music. A good speaker
will reproduce whatever signal is fed into it, without adding anything
(ideally) regardless of whether the input is classical, jazz, rock, folk, or
what have you. It should reproduce Isaac Stern as well as Iron Maiden.
Where this misconception comes from is that some bad speakers sound less bad
on certain types of music, since the program material doesn't stress their
bad points as much.
While we're on the subject of speakers, I was at Harvey Sound last Saturday
and heard an excellent speaker value - the new JSE .06's which sell for
$545/pair. Frankly, they sound excellent and the only thing I've heard that
costs less than $1K/pair that sounds better than them are the JSE-1's (at
almost twice the price - $925/pair). If you are looking for speakers for a
$1K or so system, you would do well to audition the .06's.
Disclaimer: I do not own any stock in JSE or any of their dealers. I am a
very happy owner of a pair of JSE-1s that I've had for about a year now, and
am still convinced that they outperform anything selling for less than $3K/pair.
