I wonder how much of the difference people hear when they "upgrade" speaker cables comes from cables that weren't tight and clean to begin with? This thought is inspired by a recent review of an amplifier that contained a statement something like this: "At first, our listening panel thought the amplifier was muddy, with terrible imaging. Then we tightened all the connections and the sound improved dramatically." Metal oxides don't make terribly good conductors.
