The current scoop on my Magnavox 2020SL is: It's not broken (most of the time), and the problem seems to be crud on the laser lens assembly. The problems that prompted my first posting seem to have evaporated (pardon the pun) with the D5 solution I cleaned it with. (Kodak lens solution didn't do much for it, and phillips said "distilled water" so D% it was) It's since had one fit of persnicketyness (at last night's ABC-CD test), and that passed with a blast of Dust-Off (Tm someone or other). I think that this sort of problem is a good reason NOT to get a player that's top loading (it was cheeeeep). The front loading players can keep their little lenses clean, and are thoroughly more convenient for system layout, etc, as well. Live and learn. -- DO TEDDY BEARS HAVE OPINIONS? ASK YOURS TODAY! I had a Magnavox 3030 for a day, which consequently developed a problem reading the index track of discs. It could be temporarily remedied by banging it against the table, but I ultimately returned it for a refund Thus, front loading will not make a difference. I bought a 2020 and have no problems to report, while my parents do. Bernard H. Schwab Siemens RTL, Princeton, NJ
