[net.audio] cheaper cd prices coming?

[i should hope they are getting cheaper - they dont even make good frisbees]

on the back page of the may issue of grammaphone: an ad for cds at 6 pounds.
at the current exchange rate of $1.25, that is $7.50. also there was something
in the april issue, i think, about a budget dgg cd at about the same price.

maybe when they get around to 2.99 cutouts, i'll have to buy a cd player.

Since CDs have a general greater exceptance in Europe and many are made in
Hanover, W. Germany, they tend to be cheaper there. I know CDs in Germany
go for about 25-30 DMs. This is about $9-$10.

The manager of one of the audio shops in town quoted a Sony rep
as having predicted a price of under $10CDN (~$7.30US) by the end of
the year. I wonder if there'll be a run on CD players when the disk
price drops. Might be worthwhile panicking and getting one now...
