I checked out some headphones yesterday - the whole
sennheiser line. I liked the HD420's but I loved the
430's so I decided to splurge. One question though -
how do you tell the right from the left side?
My guess is by colors - red is right. Is this right???

I have seen two different amplifiers whose headphone jacks were
wired opposite from each other. Thus, the only sure way to
tell which channel is which is to use your balance control:
turn it all the way to the right, say, and remember the color
of the earpiece which is sounding.

You stick them on your head and twiddle the balance control on your preamp.
This is called the EMPIRICAL METHOD.
