Personally, I've always viewed the objective of high fidelity audio
to recreate as best as possible, given space and budget limitations,
the environment of a live concert in a first class concert hall.
If possible, go to concerts, and hear the real thing - this way you'll
get a feel for what things SHOULD sound like - you may have to compromise
for any number of reasons, but at least you'll know where you're compromising.
