Radio Shack, everybodies favorit stereo store, has included a CD player in it's latest catalogue. It is priced at $400. My question is: Who makes it for them? Thank you for any answers. Bernard Schwab Siemens RTL, Princeton, NJ siemens!bhs.

Does anyone know who makes the Radio Shack CD Player that is on sale for $250 this month? Is it Yamaha? -- Neal Macklin (408) 737-5214 ...{hplabs,ihnp4}!amdahl!nzm10 [The opinions expressed are those of the author and not necessarily those of Amdahl Corporation, its management, or employees.]

>Does anyone know who makes the Radio Shack CD Player that is on sale for >$250 this month? Is it Yamaha? No, it is made by Hitachi. It is identical to one of their earlier models. (I forget the model number) Ben Broder {ihnp4!princeton,vax135!petsd,pesnta}!moncol!ben

> > Does anyone know who makes the Radio Shack CD Player that is on sale for > $250 this month? Is it Yamaha? > On close inspection it appears that it might be a Hitachi or Toshiba, but I am just guessing. We can start a whole discussion just about who make who's CD player. For instance, can anybody identify the *real* manufacturer of the following players? I realize that some may be rather well know, but see if you can list the differences (if there are any) from the base model along with the manufacturer. Who make: Radio Shack (From above question) Video Concepts (Video store chain that slapped their logo on a CD player) General Electric (Has anybody else seen this one, it's cheap - $229.) Misson (Who make the base unit?) Meridian (Who make the base unit?) Magnavox (This one's easy) Sylvania (Just as easy) Siemens (The company that I work for put out a CD player in Europe, it's no longer made. Any guesses?) Can someone think of any others that fall into this catagory? rosen@gypsy

Another example, not on the list, is the NAD player which is actually made by Toshiba. - Greg Paley

Made by Hitachi, so I'm told.
