[net.audio] Transformer volume controls for speakers

Does anyone have information on speaker volume controls that use transformers
instead of L-pads to control the volume of speakers at the speaker end? 
I used them several years ago and I think the manufacturer was Mortronics(?)
but can't find their address or other manufacturers.
