Having decided to commit myself to the purchase of a good CD player,
I'm also thinking of getting a low-end turntable just to maintain
compatibility with older or rarer (wierder) recordings that are
available only on LP. Specifically, my price range falls in the
$150 and below category. I was eyeing the Realistic/Radio Shack LAB1500
that is currently on sale for $99.95, but I'm not very impressed
with it. Any suggestions, anyone?
Thanks in advance,
juey

*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** Many people say, and I agree, that in the price range you're looking at it is very hard to do better than the DUAL-505. DUAL produces some other tables in this price range as well. The reason for the recommendation is the superior nature of the tonearm used, as well as the belt-driven platter. recently bought one, after looking and listening to many tables, and am quite pleased. matt

I have had several very inexpensive turntables made by them, and they have always given good service. You might consider their full-automatic belt-drive model. I think it is called (nowaday) ``sl-b3'', low-end technics stuff like that goes for about $89 to $129.
