It looks like I will be inheriting a stereo system from my grandmother as she's moved in with my parents. The thing dates from the early 60's and was apparently audiophile quality for its time; there's an automatic turntable and a reel-to-reel tape deck, and it seems to be all transistors (no warmup time). The manufacturer seems to be Benjamin, but I see "made in W. Germany" on the turntable. Is it worth my time to go in and clean everything? Can the turntable take a modern stylus/cartridge/whatever, and should it? Or has audio advanced so much since then that the sound won't be any better than a $100 system from K-Mart?
