------ A friend of mine has lent me a pair of Ohm F speakers. These speakers are the strange looking Walsh driver transmission line speakers. I'd appreciate some feed back from people who have heard these speakers. I have always been an Accoustat Model 3 fan, but these three (four?) year old speakers are quite excellent. They used to list at $6,000.00 Cdn two years ago. I was simply amazed at the "air" and imaging of these speakers. They are a black hole when it comes to power, especially for CD source. My 240 W amp doesn't drive them to uncomfortable levels. The bass extension is VERY good. Tight. Deep. Room shaking. These speakers digress from the standard I am used to. I own ADS L910s (conventional speakers, that is they radiate sound from the front), and these Ohms use a Walsh driver (looks like a BIG inverted cone) that radiate sound 360 deg. Seems to me Ohm has something here, I have rarely heard speakers sound as realistic as these. The sound is three-dimensional, if you can believe that. Yet the imaging matches that of the Accoustats, and the "listening window" is much larger. What gives? If this design is so pleasing to me, why are there so few Walsh driver designs on the market? (Umm, I think anyone who heard these speakers would be impressed too...) Although these speakers were designed years ago, they can easily handle digital source (if speakers can handle the Telarc Time Warp CD then they can handle anything...) I still think that the Accoustats present more detail, but gosh these Ohm F's sound good. If you do have, or have heard the Ohms, please drop me a note... Tom Molnar ..ihnp4!utzoo!utflis!molnar
