re: accessory review: DISCBOX storage system I received my second shipment of DISCBOX storage racks last weekend (took one week, from Compact Disc Centre). I now have a two-layer rack and thought I would share the experience so far. Each DISCBOX hold 10 discs on edge (i.e. disc perpendicular to ground). The lower slots extend to the front edge of the rack. The upper slots do not; they only extend about 1.3" from the back of the rack. This makes for a little "wiggling" when returning a disc and you can't see the back slot - a minor annoyance. The DISCBOXes interlock (friction wedges) side-to-side and top-to-bottom. I have a 5-wide x 2-high rack now. I wouldn't recommened stacking them more than 2-high without some kind of reinforcement, as they would probably bend forward at that height. Each box does have two countersunk screw holes for this purpose (or for wall mounting). As with any slotted system, when you add a new disc, you have to "ripple" the rest of them in one direction of the other to make room. You can leave gaps, of course (a virtue of a slotted system), but that makes it harder to find where to put a disc back. DISCBOXes are available for single CDs and double CDs (I plan to have none of the later, having ample spare single jewel cases to split up any such sets). In retrospect, I would suggest that anyone considering the DISCBOX system also take a look at the "STACKO-DISC" system. Each of those units holds 20 disc horizontally, and the slots extend to the front of both sides. These units also interlock. If you are considering DISCBOXes, the cheapest source so far is CDC ($4.83 each, quantity 6, including shipping). The wholesale price of the DISCBOX is apparently $1.85-per in carton quantities (72). If you have a large CD interest group at your organization, you might try negotiating (with CDC or a local dealer) for a better price than $4.83-per.
