[net.audio] question regarding speakerlab

rafaeld@teklabs.UUCP (Rafael De Arce) (07/20/85)

i head a lot about speakerlab about a year ago and decided
to drive up to seattle the give this company a listen. a
few people at the place where i work recommended them
quit highly.

when i got there i listened to the complete line that
they offered. some people swear by them but i was not
impressed with the sound that they produced. that is
not to say that they are bad. i just learned that
sound quality is personal. those that own the speak-
erlabs are quite satisfied with them. i was glad
that i had given them a listen before signing the
check based on the "opinions of the many."

you might like them but listen to them before you
buy them.

How true. I just drove up to Seattle in the beginning of June this
year and listened, and I was really disappointed. Not only that, but
Speakerlabs is no more!!! They sold out to someone else (whose name escapes
me at the moment). This someone else seems to be in the low-mid end hifi
business, and I wasn't impressed with the sales people, either. What's really
strange is that about five years ago I went up to Seattle with some friends
to specifically go to a Speakerlabs. I know five years is a long time, but I
vaguely remember being more impressed with Speakerlabs then.
