I've found that the best way to do mail order shopping, especially if I
am not sure of the mail order house, is to have my order shipped COD.
UPS COD is less than $5 for the order. All of the problems about having
your check cashed, or your credit card charged are eliminated. You don't
have to deal with excuses and mixups with shipping. If you don't want
something, because there was a screw-up, all you have to do is to refuse
the order.
Some places don't do COD, and that's a problem, but most places will
ship COD.

The latest issue of Money magazine says that now is a good time to buy audio gear, and gives as an example the NAD 7140 receiver. They claim that it can be found for $375, while it retails for $478. I'd like to buy this receiver at that price, but the best price I have found so far is $425 from the Sound Seller. There is a discount house in Baltimore, Md that seems to carry LOTS of brands that the usual discounters CANT get. (i.e.Stereo Corp, WDS, etc.) Two or three friends have ordered equpiment from INTERNATIONAL HI-FI DISTRIBUTORS with good service and very good prices on hard to find equipment. INTERNATIONAL HI FI DISTRIBUTORS - Moravla Center Industrial Park, Balitomore, MD 21206. They might carry NAD. I know they sell h/k, and thats VERY tough to find M.O. They also have a phone (not toll free) - (301)488-9600. See their ad in July 85 Hi Fidelity pg 76. Let me know if you succeeded; I know of some friends currently looking at some NAD equipment.
