[net.chess] good simple chess problem

trb@masscomp.UUCP (Andy Tannenbaum) (05/01/85)

I got the following problem from John Green, an old-time hacker and
casual chessplayer. I think he says that he found it in a book which
said that this problem was composed by someone about whom nothing else
is known, this problem is his only know contribution to humanity. I
think it's sufficient. If you know anything about the origins of this
problem, let me know. Mail me (don't post news) if you have a solution,
and let me know whether you'd seen the problem before. I will post
acknowledgements and solutions as appropriate in a couple of weeks. No
goofy tricks, please.
